The night’s offerings are inspired by the signature dishes from the menus of Big Bad Breakfast (John Currence ’87), The Gloriette (Alex Harrell ’97), Shagbark (Walter Bundy ’90), and Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall (Michael Lennox ’07).

Faculty Retirement Reception

Join the community in honoring Drs. Herb Sipe, Dirk Johnson, Renee Severin, and Claire Deal and their years of dedicated service, forming good men and good citizens in an atmosphere of sound learning.

Bourbon, Bacon, and Brotherhood Dinner

This once-in-our-lifetime ticketed event brings together some of the South’s most respected culinary and hospitality voices, including John Currence ’87 of Big Bad Breakfast, Walter Bundy ’90 of Shagbark, Alex Harrell ’97 of The Gloriette, and Michael Lennox ’07 of Electric Hospitality, in collaboration with Garrison Brothers Bourbon co-founder Charles Garrison ’89. Rather than a traditional tasting, the evening’s menu has been intentionally designed to incorporate Garrison Brothers Small Batch Bourbon into each course.

Guided history tours of campus will depart at 2:45 and 3 pm.

Remembering Thomas H. Shomo ’69: A Gentleman in All Times and at All Places

Join the community as we honor the life and generous spirit of a true Hampden-Sydney gentleman. The author of To Manner Born, To Manners Bred: A Hip-Pocket Guide to Etiquette for the Hampden-Sydney Man, Tommy devoted more than 50 years to the betterment of the College and the Brotherhood.
